Moses Kuria Mocks Gachagua After his Warning to Ruto

Public Service Cabinet Secretary (CS) Moses Kuria has criticized Deputy President (DP) Rigathi Gachagua following his speech in a Church at Mathira Constituency, Nyeri County.

In a statement, Kuria mockingly referred to Gachagua as the President of Mathira which is the DP’s home constituency.

Kuria in a cryptic message, stated that the DP promised to ensure there is a peaceful coexistence between Mathira and the Republic of Kenya.

“The President of the Federal Republic of Mathira spent a bruising day on a whistle stop tour of his country with stops in Hiriga, Kabiruini, Ngorano and Kiamariga States,” Kuria said.

“The President pledged to strengthen the bilateral relations between the Federal Republic of Mathira and the neighboring Republic of Kenya.”

While attending a church service at Kiamariga PEFA Church in Mathira, Nyeri County on July 7 Gachagua warned President William Ruto against politicians undermining the fight against illicit brews.

Gachagua Accuses Interior Ministry

The DP accused unnamed officers at the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government of suppressing the fight against illicit brew in the Mt Kenya region.

He mentioned that the Interior Ministry has facilitated the re-opening of bars in the region, in an effort to frustrate his mission to end alcoholism in Mt Kenya.

“I heard that our local MP has directed security officers in Karatina, purportedly on orders from above to re-open bars. An MP cannot instruct security officers. If security officers from this region are taking instructions from an MP, we shall discipline them,” Gachagua said.

Further, he criticized the local authorities for reopening bars and asked the police officers to stop taking orders from Members of Parliament (MPs).

For instance, the DP challenged the Deputy County Commissioners of Mathira East and Mathira West Constituencies to provide written instructions from the said authorities ordering them to reopen the bars selling the illicit brews.

“I want to tell our officers if there are such instructions they should be in writing so that we know who is giving them,” he said.

Misleading Ruto

Gachagua accused the leaders of misleading the President to intentionally create a war between him and the people.

“Mr President if you allow Overzealous officers at Harambee House with a Political Scheme to interfere with this war against Illicit brew those people those officers will set you up against the people,” Gachagua said.

According to the DP, these particular politicians are fighting him blindly without knowing that they are harming President Ruto and his entire administration.

He clarified that the Cabinet has not yet decided to stop the war against illicit brews as perpetuated by some of the leaders.

The DP said the fight against illicit brews was among the successful interventions of Ruto’s regime and created a good relationship between the government and the people.

“If you people at the Interior Ministry think that you want to interfere with this successful program so that maybe you undermine the DP, you are effectively undermining President Ruto and his administration,” he said.

He maintained that a move to reopen bars selling such drugs will cause a permanent political damage to the president and the government.
