Cabinet Secretary for Public Service Moses Kuria on November 8, 2023, praised retired President Uhuru Kenyatta and Council of Governor’s boss Ann Waiguru.
While speaking during the 10th anniversary celebrations of Huduma Center in Nakuru County, CS Kuria lauded the duo for realizing the Huduma Kenya initiative dream that took off ten years ago.
“I would like to thank Ann Waiguru, the chair of the council of governors and Uhuru Kenyatta because Huduma Kenya saw its inception during his government,” stated Kuria.
Likewise, the Public Service CS applauded all the stakeholders who have helped in the realization of the dream since its inception.

CS Kuria also revealed government’s plan to expand Huduma Kenya to grassroots levels.

“Going forward, our vision is to expand Huduma Kenya to the grassroot levels so that we can take the government to the people,” said Kuria
Further, the CS noted that the government’s partnership with Members of Parliament and support of NG-CDF will bring the centers to every constituency as opposed to the current one in every County.
CS Kuria was flanked by Principal Secretary, State Department for public service Amos Gathecha, Nakuru County Deputy Governor David Kones and Huduma Kenya CEO Benjamin Kai Chilumo.

Nonetheless, the CS commended the professionalism of services provided at all Huduma Centers, further urging all the Public Servants to emulate the body.
“I’m very proud of the professional services that our officers provide at Huduma Centers, and I want to urge all public servants to emulate them,” said Kuria.
Further Moses Kuria reiterated his sentiments on having Kenyans move from public employment to public service.
“Like I have said in many forums, we must move from public employment to public service, Happy 10th Anniversary Huduma Kenya,” noted the CS.
Huduma Fee
Additionally, the public service CS highlighted his earlier remarks on introducing charges for huduma center services noting that “nothing is for free.”
”You have been enjoying these services without paying, there is no more free lunch. You have to pay for it, we will introduce a fee for government service and private service to support our e-commerce because Huduma Centre will be the backbone for e-commerce,” Kuria said.

According to Kuria, introducing the fee would enable the fifty-two huduma centers across the country to generate revenue and ease the pressure on the exchequer.
However, the CS who made these remarks early last month denounced the statement and termed it as a misrepresentation of what he meant.
”As usual, the media is misrepresenting what I said about huduma centers,” Kuria noted.
“The public is already paying government departments for services offered through huduma centers, but those departments do not pay huduma centers for distributing their services to the public,’ he added.
