Former Cabinet secretary (CS) for Public Service, performance and delivery management Moses Kuria has advised Gen Z on the ongoing antigovernment protests.
In a statement on his Twitter (X) account, Kuria asked the movement to give room for dialogue as he acknowledged issues they had brought forward as real.
“The issues you have brought forth are real and indelible. National discourse will never be the same again,” acknowledged Kuria.
Moses Kuria termed the Tuesday 23 July protests as underwhelming and asked demonstrators to give meaning to the lives lost during protests.
“Today was underwhelming. Focus should now shift from regime change to ensuring those whom we lost did not die in vain,” reads part of the statement.
Moses Kuria ‘s Advice to Gen Zs
Earlier, Kuria, had dismissed Gen Zs labelling them as ‘a generation of Uber and fish fingers’ that would not in any way influence the government.
Consequently, in an interview on July 14, he expressed regrets over his remarks citing that the impacts they had on President William Ruto’s decision to dissolve cabinet.

“I’ve been calling them the generation of Twitter, Uber, and fish fingers,” he admitted.
“They have proved me wrong. The Uber and fish fingers people have shown me that they can become an important engine of taking this country forward,” Kuria said
He expressed his admiration, for the dynamic generation, highlighting its potential to refocus the nation.
In addition, the Tuesday 23 July protests dubbed #Occupy JKIA were organized all week on social media platforms as Gen Zs planned to march peacefully to the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
“We, the people of Kenya, will take to the streets on Tuesday, the 23rd, without fail, we will occupy all towns, cities, major roads and Jomo Kenyatta International Airport every day until change comes,” read a letter by the youth addressed to President Ruto.
Occupy JKIA Protests
In bid to counter the planned protests, acting Inspector General of police Douglas Kanja warned the youth against any attempt to access JKIA, reminding the public that it was a protected area by the law.

Likewise, these protests saw security being heightened in all road and entrances leading to the airport.
Other cities and towns also witnessed protests, with reports indicating that several people sustained gunshot injuries.
