Gichohi Waweru, a concerned voter and resident of Juja Constituency, has formally written to the area Member of Parliament (MP), George Koimburi Ndung’u, demanding a comprehensive account of his achievements and activities since taking office.
Waweru began his letter dated July 29, by acknowledging that Koimburi was approaching another year in his role as MP, having taken over the position following the demise of the previous representative.

He reminded Koimburi that the powers and responsibilities of his office are derived from the people of Juja, as outlined in the constitution.
“Hon. Koimburi, you are days away to celebrating yet another year as the MP for Juja. Three or more years later since you took up this seat falling vacant after the death of our late MP,” read the letter in part.

Waweru highlighted various issues affecting Juja residents, including the poor state of public schools, frequent power outages and the deteriorating state of roads and infrastructure.

He also expressed concern over the encroachment of public land by private developers, and the lack of proper drainage systems which has led to severe flooding during heavy rains, causing property damage and even loss of life.
Waweru emphasized that while these issues are not isolated, they reflect a broader pattern of neglect that Juja residents are eager to address.
“While we are aware that not all the issues above can be handled by you, we also acknowledge the power and privilege you possess as a siting member including submitting questions on the floor of the house for their redress,” he said.

He asked Koimburi to provide details on the motions and questions he has raised in Parliament, as well as any significant contributions he has made to debates, particularly those that pertain to the welfare of Juja constituents.
Waweru requested that this information be accompanied by certified supporting documents and be provided within ten days of the issuance of his letter.
“May I request that this information be and is hereby availed to us through our email herewith provided not later than ten days (10) of receipt of this letter to enable our further action,” the letter further reads.

Furthermore, Waweru directed the Clerk of the National Assembly to disclose Koimburi’s attendance record at parliamentary sittings.
“By a copy of this letter, we request the Clerk of the National Assembly to inform us in writing the number of sittings you have attended alongside those you have missed,” he wrote.
“The same can be shared within the same timelines of ten days (10) on the email herewith provided.”
Waweru expressed hope that litigation would not be necessary to assert the rights of Juja residents under Article 35 of the Constitution, which guarantees the right to access information.
