The Government of Kenya, through the office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, has issued a clarification regarding recent allegations of supplying weapons and logistics to the Sudan Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
In a statement issued on June 26, 2025, the Government of Kenya expressed concern over a press release issued on Monday, June 23, 2025, by the Office of the Spokesperson and Media Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs under the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF)-led administration.
“The persistent and unfounded false claims by SAF on Kenya appear to reflect an outdated strategy of deflecting internal challenges by generating external tensions in the hope of rallying domestic support. As often observed, the most difficult but necessary journey is the one within. We therefore urge the SAF to focus on internal stability, rather than expending scarce resources and energy on imagined external adversaries,” read part of the statement.
Further, the Office of the Prime CS noted that such reckless remarks risk undermining regional peace and stability and are “unbecoming of the fraternal Pan-African relations traditionally upheld among states in the region”.
Mudavadi Responds to Sudan’s Claims
According to Mudavadi, Kenya has maintained a consistent and principled position on the conflict in Sudan by advocating for an inclusive, Sudanese-led and Sudanese-owned political process as the best viable path towards sustainable peace.
“Moreover, as a responsible member of the international community, Kenya strongly upholds its obligations under international and regional frameworks and does not condone, facilitate, or engage in the illicit trade or smuggling of arms,” read the statement.
The government stressed that no amount of scapegoating or blaming other states will alleviate the suffering of the Sudanese people.

The humanitarian crisis has escalated to severe levels and over 10 million Sudanese people, or estimated 20% of the population, have been forcefully displaced.
Currently, over 30 million people, almost two-thirds of the population, including over 16 million children, are in dire need of humanitarian assistance.
Those mostly affected are vulnerable and poor Sudanese people in marginalized areas, many of whom lack the means to seek safety.
