Murang’a County Women Representative Betty Maina has found herself at the centre of controversy after a fiery online exchange with Kameme FM radio presenter Muthoni, popularly known as Baby Top, captured Citizen’s attention and ignited a storm on social media.
Maina, elected in 2022 on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket after defeating media personality Waithira Muithirania of the Jubilee Party, launched accusations in a viral post.
“Your track record is sleeping with a former Principal Secretary at the Ministry of Energy, who built you a house. Now you’ve domesticated a musician,” Maina stated. “Get a life and focus on your work. You and your mother are children of a snake.”
The remarks, widely perceived as deeply personal and unprofessional, prompted a pointed response from Muthoni, who took to social media to fire back.
Musician Baby Top Response
“Fair enough! But we don’t throw people into dams. Remember how you almost destroyed someone at Roasters?” Muthoni wrote. “Let me go to mass and repent, but I’ll be back for you at 9:00.”

She continued, “You will never cross that red line, not even when it comes to the parents of your worst enemy. And for those telling me to protect my brand, I have no brand when someone crosses that red line. Evil must be confronted.”
The exchange has triggered widespread debate online, with Kenyans chiming in on both sides.
“Let me not say anything,” wrote Patricia Ngure. “My mom once told me that if you see two women fighting, it’s usually over a man. Since I’m not part of the fight, I’ll stay quiet.”
Citizens Reactions
Another user, Arsene Ole Asia, made personal allegations aimed at Betty Maina, writing, “Do you remember when we were in high school? We shared a dormitory, and she used to wet the bed. She refused to hang her mattress outside, and the dormitory smelled like something had died.”
While some users made light of the drama, others criticised the personal attacks and the decline in public decorum from elected leaders and influencers alike.
Civic voices have urged both sides to dial down the rhetoric and focus on constructive discourse.
