Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has warned former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua after chaos erupted at PCEA Church in Mwiki, Kasarani, where Gachagua was in attendance.
While speaking in a media interview on Monday, April 7, Murkomen told the former Deputy President that if the chaos at the PCEA church, where goons disrupted the service attempting to attack him, was stage-managed, then action will be taken according to the law.
“If perhaps the incident was stage-managed, then they set themselves up. If that’s the case, investigations will reveal that it was orchestrated. Should it prove to be stage-managed, we will arrest the one pretending to be hurt — if they were indeed behind it — and they will face legal action.
We will not consider whether you belong to this or that political side. We must ensure our country is safe and upholds the law.”
Murkomen Vows to Action If Chaos Was Stage Managed
At the same time, the Interior CS denied any government involvement, stating that the government serves its citizens impartially, regardless of their political affiliation, and will never intend to harm its citizens.
“As I said, my job as the Cabinet Secretary for Internal Security is not to take sides. Whether someone is in government, in the opposition, or engaged in politics, our role as a security department is to ensure peace in the country and adherence to the law.
Therefore, I will not waste time trying to determine which political side someone belongs to—whether they are in government or not—this is not my concern.”

Furthermore, Murkomen stated that the relevant authorities are currently investigating the chaos that occurred in the PCEA church and assured Gachagua that the investigations will be conducted fairly.
Murkomen’s response follows a statement issued by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
DCI Responds to Mwiki Chaos
According to the DCI, the Mwiki police command informed them that the church did not notify the police of Gachagua’s presence and that of other leaders, resulting in a lack of enhanced security.
“The Mwiki police command has indicated that the church failed to notify the police of the planned function, which included political leaders, and as a result, no advance security measures were implemented to handle such an incident,” read part of the statement.
Moreover, the DCI mentioned that investigations have been initiated to uncover the root cause of the chaos and urged members of the public to avoid disorder at public functions, even if they disagree with someone’s political ideals.

On Sunday, April 6, chaos erupted in the morning within the PCEA church premises when a group of unruly youths stormed the church.
The service, which was attended by Gachagua, ended in commotion within the church compound.
Consequently, the former Deputy President’s bodyguards were forced to fire shots in the air to disperse the youths, and normalcy was later restored.
