Nairobi City County workers have threatened to strike beginning Monday 4 July
The workers are protesting over what they say is unwillingness by City Hall to address their grievances.
Initially the Kenya County Government Workers Union has indicated that workers will proceed on strike from Monday July 4.
The union wants issues of persistent salary delays, failure to complete promotion of eligible staff addressed.
Additionally they are also protesting unwillingness by the county government to finalize a pay rise negotiation.
Besides, the union wants the perennial electricity disconnections and failure to pay NHIF premiums and remit monthly deductions by city hall addressed.

The union’s Nairobi Branch Secretary Festus Ngari accused City Hall of turning a deaf ear on their grievances.
“Your reply letter is a testament that your office is not in any way committed to fulfilling the urgent needs of our members,”
“And that there has been no single action transcending mere words,” Ngari said.
However, Nairobi acting County Secretary Jairus Musumba said the county government was in the process of addressing the issues raised.
In February, Nairobi County workers downed tools for similar reasons.
They called off the strike after an agreement was reached between the union and Nairobi County officials.
