The Kenya Tsetse Fly and Trypanosomiasis Eradication Council (KENTTEC) has suspended a recruitment process after the state dissolved the corporation.
In a notice on February 25, the parastatal informed the applicants of previously advertised jobs its position to abort the recruitment process.

“This is in reference to the advertisement for the positions of 14 different Cad-re of staff that appeared in the MyGovt newspaper Issue No. 43/2023-2024 of 7th May 2024 as captured on page 4 of the Newspaper.
The Kenya Tsetse Fly and Trypanosomiasis Eradication Council (KENTTEC) wishes to inform all those who applied for the positions and the general public that the recruitment process has been suspended forthwith,” the statement read in part.

“This was occasioned by the Cabinet decision communicated in a news dispatch dated 21st January 2025 where KENTTEC was among the State the Corporations approved for dissolution under the on-going state corporations reforms, “read the notice.
Dissolved corporations were Kenya Fish Marketing Authority, Kenya Tsetse Fly and Trypanosomiasis Eradication Council, Centre for Mathematics, Science and Technology Education in Africa, President’s Award – Kenya, Nuclear Power and Energy Agency, Kenya National Commission for UNESCO, Kenya Film Classification Board, National Council for Nomadic Education, LAPSSET Corridor Development Authority.
The government stated that the corporations’ mandates can be performed by their parent ministries, additionally, the corporations have functions that can be provided by the private sector.
State corporation reforms
The Cabinet also approved the declassification of all professional bodies that are currently classified as state corporations.
In addition, the Cabinet approved merging 42 state corporations with overlapping or related mandates into 20 entities and returning four public funds to the relevant ministries.
KENTTEC Kenya
KENTTEC is a state corporation established to eradicate tsetse flies and trypanosomiasis. Its main functions include implementing vector control strategies, such as insecticide-treated targets and community-based livestock spraying, as well as developing sustainable land-use policies post-intervention.

KENTTEC advertised 14 positions in May last year, seeking to recruit 24 Kenyans for various roles.
The advertised positions included one post each for a Supply Chain Management Officer, Human Resource Management Officer, ICT Officer, Veterinary Officer, and Planning Officer.
At the same time, the agency had advertised seven posts for Veterinary Entomologists, two for Assistant Veterinary Entomologists, and one post each for a Knowledge Management Officer, Corporate Communication Officer, Land Management Officer, Accountant, Administration Assistant, and Customer Care Assistant.
Additionally, the agency sought to recruit four office assistants.
