Noordin Haji was sworn in as the new Director-General of the National Intelligence Service (NIS) on Wednesday, June 14 at State House Nairobi.
Haji took the oath of office at a ceremony presided over by President William Ruto and other government officials, among them Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki.
“I have full confidence that with the experience you have gathered over the years, having worked in the intelligence service for many years and in other senior government positions such as the DPP, you have assembled knowledge and experience to be able to discharge your responsibility,” Ruto said.
President William Ruto nominated Noordin Haji who has been serving as the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) since July 2021 for the National Intelligence Service position on May 16.

The National Assembly’s Defence and Foreign Relations Committee on Tuesday, June 13 approved Noordin Haji’s nomination to serve as NIS Director General.
Haji has previously served in the National Intelligence Service as the Deputy Director of the Counter Organized Crime Unit. Nonetheless, the former DPP comes in replacing Philip Kameru who held the position for over eight years.
