The Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs has issued a warning to Kenyans living in Lebanon about fraudsters who are charging fees for evacuation services.
In a notice on Friday, October 4, the State Department of Diaspora Affairs stated that it had received complaints from individuals who are demanding payment through the numbers 0717947103 and 0716625937.

At the same time, the state department clarified that the evacuation process is fully funded by the government and is being conducted at no cost to the affected individuals.
“We would like to alert all Kenyans currently in Lebanon about reports of fraudsters exploiting vulnerable individuals. These individuals are unlawfully charging fees for evacuation services using the numbers 0717947103 & 0716625937,” read the statement in part.

Kenyans in Lebanon Warned of Fraudsters
“Please be informed that the Government of Kenya is conducting evacuations at no cost to citizens. The evacuation is entirely funded by the Government, and you should not pay anyone for these services,” the statement reads further.
Furthermore, Kenyans were advised to stay safe and report any suspicious activities to the countries Embassy in Kuwait or email consular@diaspora.go.ke.

The update came after Foreign and Diaspora Affairs PS Roseline Njogu on October 1 directed all Kenyans in the said country to register for evacuation to ensure their safety and appropriate evacuation amid increasing Israeli airstrikes in the Asian Country.
Njogu stated that the government of Kenya had successfully evacuated two groups of Kenyans from Lebanon. She explained that the government is committed to continuing its efforts until every Kenyan in need is safely evacuated.
“To ensure the safety and timely evacuation of all our citizens, we urge all Kenyans in Lebanon to register with us immediately. Only registered Kenyans will be eligible for evacuation,” Njogu said.
The PS reiterated that any Kenyan wishing to be evacuated must complete their registration before the deadline, which is October 12, 2024.
