The National Assembly announced the dates for hearings on several appointments made by President William Ruto on Thursday, December 19.
In a notice dated Tuesday, December 24, the National Assembly informed the public that approval hearings for Cabinet Secretaries (CSs), Ambassadors, and Public Service Commission (PSC) members are scheduled for January 2025.
According to the notice, the Cabinet Secretary nominees will be vetted on Tuesday, January 14, 2025.
The vetting for Ambassadors and High Commissioners will take place on Saturday, January 18, 2025, while PSC members will be interviewed on Friday, January 24, 2025.
National Assembly Sets Approval Hearing Dates for CSs and other Positions
President Ruto appointed known politicians to serve as Cabinet Secretaries in various ministries, many of whom are allies of former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Notably, former Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has been nominated to lead the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, with a focus on enhancing agricultural productivity and livestock management.
Former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo is set to oversee the Ministry of Information, Communications, and the Digital Economy. Additionally, Lee Kinyanjui, the former Nakuru Governor, will take charge of the Ministry of Investments, Trade, and Industry.
On the list of ambassadors and diplomatic representatives, the Head of State nominated Nyambura Ndung’u as the High Commissioner to Accra, Ghana, where she will represent Kenyan interests and foster bilateral relations.

Former Agriculture CS Dr. Andrew Karanja has been designated as the Ambassador to Brazil, with the aim of strengthening diplomatic ties and trade relations between the two nations.
Ababu Namwamba, the former Sports CS, will serve as the Permanent Representative to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON), playing a vital role in environmental diplomacy and international cooperation at these esteemed UN bodies.
Former Deputy IG Nominated for Ambassadorial Position
Noor Gabow, who served as Deputy Inspector General, has been appointed as the Ambassador to Port-au-Prince, Haiti, where he will work to advance Kenya’s diplomatic presence and engagement in the Caribbean region.

Additionally, President Ruto nominated several individuals to serve in various capacities within the Public Service Commission (PSC). The nominees for the PSC positions are as follows:
- Mary Wanjira Kimonye – nominated as Vice-Chairperson.
- Haram Maalim Hassan (PWD) – nominated as a member.
- Mwanamaka Amani Mabruki – nominated as a member.
- Francis Meja – nominated as a member.
- Irene Cherotich Asienga – nominated as a member.
- Boya Molu, EBS – nominated as a member.
- Jason Andai Machayo – nominated as a member.
- Francis Otieno Owino – nominated as a member.
