A fire broke out on the night of Saturday, March 2, in Tassia, near the Tassia SDA Church in Embakasi East.
The blaze razed down several properties in the Kwa Kasim area, leaving many residents displaced.

Local residents, along with firefighters from Nairobi County, spent much of the night battling the flames. Several people were forced to spend the night in the cold after their homes were destroyed.
Authorities reported that at least six people suffered minor burns in the fire. The firefighters successfully contained the blaze, but properties of unknown value were reduced to ashes.

The exact cause of the fire remains unknown, and emergency services are still on the scene assessing the damage.
Leaders React to Fire Incident at Tassia
Several local leaders have expressed concern over the fire.

Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino took to social media, stating:
“Pray for us as fire is currently razing down houses in Tassia, Embakasi East. Property worth millions has been destroyed, and children, men, and women have been left homeless, forced to spend the night in the cold. What a sad night in Embakasi East.”

Former Embakasi Ward Member of County Assembly (MCA), Eric Ogaro, also commented on the tragedy:
“A huge fire has been witnessed in Tassia, Embakasi, leaving several people nursing injuries. Some deaths have been reported. Women and children have been forced to spend the night in the cold. I appeal to the Nairobi County Government, through the Governor, to intervene immediately.”
Rising Cases of Fires Across the Country
This incident comes at a time when Kenya has seen an increase in fire outbreaks.
On March 1, a fire broke out at Olmekenyu Center in Narok South around 5 a.m., destroying over 20 homes and businesses. The fire was eventually contained, but nearly 50 houses and a shopping area were reduced to ashes, displacing several households.
According to the Kenya Red Cross, more than 22 fire incidents have been reported within a single week.

The most recent was in Mathare-Mabatini, where 42 households, 48 businesses, two schools, and an unspecified amount of land were affected. At least 20 people sustained injuries.
