A second autopsy conducted on the body of Kizito Moi Amukune, a former caretaker for Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale, has revealed what killed him on January 28, 2024.
Government pathologist Dr Johansen Oduor conducted a second postmortem after allegations emerged that the worker could have been murdered through stabbing with a knife.

Speaking outside the Kakamega County funeral parlor, Oduor confirmed that the worker died after being mauled by a fighter bull.
“What I found is that the late Kizito had injuries, one on the forehead on the right side, and another one on the anterior neck and the inner thigh of the left leg,” stated Oduor.

He further dismissed claims of stabbing, stating that the injuries were penetrating and also had some features which included some bruising around them.
The state Chief pathologist had been forced to conduct a second autopsy after complaints arose from an initial autopsy conducted by Dr Akhonya, who was representing the complainants.

“Indeed, I have attended the postmortem. I have written my report and I concur with what Dr Johansen Oduor has stated,” said the local pathologist.

Khalwale thanked the pathologists for the operation, further revealing the details about the burial of his departed caretaker.
Relief for Khalwale
“I am glad that Dr Oduor, the government pathologist has now announced a closure.
We shall move the remains of Moi tomorrow morning in the usual manner,” said Khalwale.
The senator further went on to reveal that the burial ceremony will take place on Monday, February 5 at Kizito’s home in Malinya, Kakamega County.
The vocal politician postponed his caretaker’s burial as detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) visited his home on January 31 amid investigations into Moi’s death.
The DCI had taken up the matter following allegations from a section of Kakamega politicians who came out to demand an independent probe into the death.
Wild Allegations
Particularly, Kakamega-based tycoon Cleophas Shimanyula urged law enforcers to conduct a thorough investigation into the tragic incident.
In a statement on January 30, 2024, he accused the Kakamega Senator of possibly being involved in Moi’s death.

“He has been claiming in the media and on online platforms that the bull killed the worker. However, there are reports, which I can’t confirm as true, that Khalwale is involved in the murder,” Shimanyula told reporters.
The Kakamega senator however dismissed the claims, insisting that the bull named Inasio killed his longtime caretaker at his Kakamega home.
He said the bull’s horns pierced into the caretaker’s chin in one of the observed injuries from the attack.
In keeping with the traditions of the Luhya community, the Senator speared the bull, killing it before locals shared its meat to the last piece.
