The county government of Machakos has demanded documents from Steve Thompson Magana, popularly known as Oga Obinna, showing that comedian Sammy Kioko supplied goods to the county.
In a letter dated November 12, 2025, the County Solicitor charged Obinna to provide records or evidence proving that the county government owed Sammy Kioko money.
The letter referenced a YouTube episode of Obinna Show Live titled “When Politics Crushes Dreams Sammy Kioko’s Heartbreaking Story,” in which Kioko, as the guest, discussed challenges he allegedly faced after supplying goods to the county.
The Background of the story
Over the past weeks, comedian Sammy Kioko has been sharing online the struggle he is going through as a result of financial constraints.
He later shared how he had tried reaching out to Machakos Governor Wavinya Wandeti over pending payments to the tune of Ksh19 million and how he was denied entrance to the Machakos White House, the county’s headquarters.
The comedian also revealed that he was forced to close his shops because he could no longer afford to pay his employees or fund the tailoring shop.

County Dismisses Allegations as False and Misleading.
The county government of Machakos has since dismissed the allegations, stating that Sammy Kioko is not a registered supplier and does not appear as a director, shareholder, or registered beneficial owner of any company supplying goods or services to Machakos County.

The county accused Obinna’s show of misleading the public and turning emotions against the county, emphasizing that the claims made lacked proof or merit.
On November 3, the county dismissed the claims of tender irregularities by Dr. Joseph Mathuki, the county’s head of procurement.
He stated that Kioko was not the director of the company that procured uniforms for the county, and termed the allegations “politically motivated”.

Warning to Obinna TV
The county government, through the letter dated November 12, asked Obinna TV to provide documents confirming that the county government of Machakos owes Sammy Kioko.
The letter also warned them the show against publishing or sharing unverified information and threatened legal action if evidence is not provided.
“Failure to supply us with the documents confirming the said Sammy Kioko’s claim will force us to take action against yourselves for hosting, publishing, and disseminating false information,” stated the County Solicitor.
