The Orange Democratic Movement Party (ODM) has clarified on the reported appointment of Homa Bay Senator Moses Kajwang as the interim chairman for Homa Bay County.
In a statement on Thursday, ODM addressed a letter that falsely claimed to be from the party Secretary General, Edwin Sifuna, confirming Kajwang’s appointment.
The party dismissed the contents of the letter labelling it as fake and stating “This one is FAKE…”
According to the fraudulent document, Kajwang’s appointment was said to follow the elevation of Gladys Wanga to the role of National Chairman, which had created a vacancy for the Homa Bay County chairmanship.
“The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) is pleased to announce the appointment of Hon. Moses Kajwang as the Interim Chairman for Homa bay County,” read the flagged document in part.

ODM Announces Leadership Changes
These developments come after the ODM in a statement made on August 9 announced major leadership changes within the party.
In the statement, it was revealed that ODM leader Raila Odinga chaired a Central Management Committee meeting, which saw the naming of Homa Bay governor Gladys Wanga as national chairperson.
Gladys was to replace the outgoing ODM Chair, John Mbadi, following his recent appointment to President William Ruto’s cabinet.
“The meeting has resolved to make the following recommendations to the National Executive Committee in order to fill these vacancies; Gladys Wanga as the National Chairperson,” read the statement in part.

“I succeeded her as Woman Representative when she became governor. I have been running the office well. I think I can equally take over the position of chairperson in Homa Bay after Governor Wanga,” she said.
Osogo said that the opportunity to lead the branch should be extended to a woman, as the previous office holder was also female.
“I do not see anyone better than me. I had promised Wanga) that I will ensure her legacy as a Woman Rep both in politics and development continues,” she said.
