Old Mutual has announced the appointment of a new Executive Director. In a notice dated Thursday, March 13, 2025, Old Mutual announced the appointment of Matthew Brinckmann as an executive director of the Company with effect from March 6, 2025.
“The Board of Directors of Old Mutual Holdings Plc (the “Company”) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Matthew Brinckmann as an executive director of the Company with effect from 6th March 2025 subject to receipt of regulatory approvals from the Insurance Regulatory Authority Kenya,” read the notice.
Matthew is an insurance executive and qualified actuary with 25 years of experience. He joined Old Mutual in 2016. Before joining Old Mutual, he was a partner at Ernst & Young Global Limited (EY LLP.)
Old Mutual Appoints Matthew Brinckmann as Executive Director
Since joining Old Mutual, Matthew has held positions as the Head of Strategic Projects and Actuarial Methodology, and the Head of Old Mutual Internal Consultancy.
He also holds a position as the General Manager for Enablement for the Mass and Foundation Cluster in South Africa.
Brinckmann holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Witwatersrand, a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (UK) and the Actuarial Society of South Africa
At the same time, Old Mutual through its Board of Directors announced the resignation of Richard Treagus as an executive director on the board with effect from March 6 2025.
“The Board of Directors announces the resignation of Mr. Richard Treagus as an executive director on the board with effect from 6th March 2025. Mr. Treagus joined the board on 13th November 2018 and has made significant contributions to the growth and success of the Company during his tenure,” read the statement.

The Board of Directors thanked Treagus for the period he served Old Mutual Holdings.
“The Board of Directors and Management wish to appreciate Mr. Treagus for his diligence and dedicated service and wishes him well in his future endeavors ,” the Board of Directors said.
