The state has sent cancellation notices to controversial pastors Ezekiel Odero and Paul Makenzi, through Registrar of Societies informing them of church closures.
According to the registrar of societies, Attorney General Justin Muturi said Paul Makenzi’s church needed to provide cause, to prevent the state from closing Good News International.
For Pastor Ezekiel Odero’s church, the AG’s office says that while the organization meets all the conditions at the time of registration, it has failed to file tax returns in recent years.
The AG held a meeting on Wednesday with the senate ad-hoc committee to investigate further the Shakahola deaths.

Paul Mackenzi’s church claimed that last year they sought to change its name and officials, but this was rejected as the move did not adhere to the provisions of the society’s act.
The two pastors’ have been under investigation, as they are linked to a cult that saw more than 100 people succumb to hunger with believe that they would meet Jesus once they fasted.
