A popular pastor has warned against using some names among romantic partners, insinuating that they could lead to break-ups in relationships.
While addressing a congregation at the Christ Foundation Fellowship (CFF) Ministry, Pastor Harrison Ng’ang’a urged them to refrain from calling their partners “mummy” or “daddy”.
“Ukimwuita baba ama umuite daddy ataoa. Wacha nikwambie, kwa sababu ata kama ni wewe. Mimi nakuja kwangu nyumbani, mke wangu ananiita daddy, watoto wananiita daddy si lazima uwatafutie mama yao kwa sababu hao wote ni Watoto, (If you call him daddy, they will get married to someone else. For example, if you come to my home and my wife and kids call me mummy, I will have to get them a mother as they are all my children,” said the pastor.
Pastor says some names make partners lose interest
He went on to state that such names make either of the partners to lose interest and may end up breaking the relationship altogether.

“On the other hand, huezi kuita mke wako mum. Mke wako sio mama yako. Ukizoea kuita mama yako mum mum utaona ameanza kupendana na watu wengine ameshindwa kukupenda. (You cannot call your wife mum as she is not your mum. If you get used to calling her that she will end up loving someone else),” said Pastor Harrison.
Mummy and daddy invoke certain instincts
He also said that these names evoke instincts that are associated with them and insisted that people remain interested when they are called by the titles that befit them.

“Ukimuita mum Katikati yako na yeye kunadevelop maternal feelings. (If you call her mum she begins to develop maternal instincts). Mtu anakuanga na interest juu ya kuitwa na jina yake. (Interest is maintained by calling someone by their rightful title.) Wale washirika wananiita pastor wangu, naskia upastor ndani yangu lakini wale wananiita daddy nakua confused. ( Those congregants who call me my pastor make me feel the pastorhood in me, but those who call me dad confuse me).
