Ruto was just about to thank his deputy, Rigathi Gachagua when the power went forcing him to stop his speech briefly.
The power blackout lasted for a few minutes.
In the video, seen by The Kenya Times, the president continued talking for a few seconds before pausing to wait for reconnection.
Speaking before the outage, President Ruto explained that it took the efforts of several people to unite the A.I.P.C.A.
He revealed that the Church leaders consulted him eight years ago when he was the deputy president.
“I listened keenly because we had many friends from this Church, but they were in opposing sides. We were really disturbed and confused, we even ended contributing to the confusion that was in this Church,” said Ruto.
Additionally, he thanked his predecessor President Uhuru Kenyatta for his contributions in uniting the A.I.P.C.A.
“When they came, I told them uniting this Church was above my capabilities and I’ll consult the head of state. I consulted President Uhuru Kenyatta and I want to thank him because he contributed greatly to uniting thud Church,” said the president.
He was acknowledging the role played by DP Gachagua in uniting the Church when the microphones went off due to the power outage.
Ruto continued with his speech when the lights came back and did not comment on the matter.
