Detectives have arrested four Wells Fargo staff over the Ksh.94 million thievery at Quickmart Supermarket weeks ago.
In a statement on Saturday, November 25, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said the suspects were arrested after thorough analysis of forensic evidence.
“Detectives pursuing suspects in the November 6 thievery of over Ksh.94.9 million while on transit by Wells Fargo staffers have today arrested four more suspected accomplices, all employees of the courier and security company,” read the statement.
The four are Joel Oyuchi Mweseli, Harrison Mugendi Njeru, Caleb Ouma Okinyi and Ronald Ouma Oluu.
According to the DCI, Mweseli was the controller/planner of the heist while Njeru was in charge of drivers.
Additionally, Okinyi was the fleet supervisor while Oluu was in charge of crew commanders.
“Besides negligence of duty, the four staffers who are guests of the state for the weekend are believed to have conspired with the two prime suspects (Daniel Mugetha and Anthony Nduiki) who are still at large,” said DCI.
Further, the arrests push the total number of suspects so far nabbed in the Quickmart robbery to eight.
Four others were arrested and over Ksh.9 million recovered in a jerrycan at a house in Roysambu.
“Investigations are still underway to track down the remaining suspects, as those apprehended today cool heels at Capitol Hill Police Station pending arraignment at Milimani Law Courts on Monday, November 27,” read the statement.

Quickmart Robbery
In the robbery, two Wells Fargo security firm guards disappeared with Ksh.94,918,750 on Monday, November 6.
The two suspects, a crew commander, and a driver sneaked the truck out of the company’s Nairobi offices shortly after the moneybox was loaded.
They left behind the police escort car that was waiting to be flagged off.
Afterwards the armed escort team went to enquire from the management because the loading was taking too long without knowing that the truck, they were to escort had sneaked minutes earlier.
By the time, neither the truck nor the crew members, Daniel Mungai Mugetha and Anthony Nduiki Waigumo could be traced.
Detectives said they dumped the company vehicle at Dafarm in South C, Nairobi.

However, the police did not find a trace of the money after searching the vehicle.
“The said motor vehicle was found dumped at Dafarm area in South C, next to the Southern bypass, without the suspects and the money missing,” read the police statement.
Langata Police Staton Commanding Officer visited the scene and confirmed the incident.
A report by the company’s Investigations Manager indicated that the Isuzu Canter was destined to a bank located at Nairobi’s Kenyatta Avenue, ferrying the Sh94 million belonging to a renowned supermarket in the country.
Police in Lang’ata were mobilized to pursue the daring duo, only to trace the empty truck abandoned in South C. An special operations team has since been deployed to pursue the suspects.
