First Lady, Mama Rachel Ruto, has called on the church to work with the Government and inform Kenyans about the various opportunities presented through the available development programs.
Her request came after she recognized the churches’ efforts in enhancing development in the society, adding that the same spirit could be reciprocated to the government programs.
Mama Rachel further outlined the opportunities provided by several government initiatives, such as the Hustler Fund and the Women Enterprise Fund
“The Church can collaborate with the Government to educate Kenyans about the opportunities presented by the Government’s numerous development programs,”
“The Church in Kenya has been playing a significant role in nation-building, serving as a beacon of hope in our society through various projects, including schools, hospitals, and various community programs,” Mama Rachel Stated.
She also included the Affordable Housing Program, the ongoing digitization of government operations, as well as Presidential Landscape and Ecosystem Restoration Strategy which aims to plant 15 billion trees by 2032 was also mentioned.
Speaking at the 10th Annual Nyeri County Prayer Breakfast at the Nyeri Golf Club on Monday, March 11, Mama Rachel acknowledged the vital role the church plays in establishing a nation by serving as a force for good in the society and a light of hope.
She particularly mentioned the roles churches play in managing hospitals, schools, and other community initiatives.

Dorcas Rigathi’s message
Speaking at the same event, Pastor Dorcas Rigathi, the spouse of the Deputy President emphasized the need to protect the future of children and young people in the country, especially from the drug abuse menace.
“Children are a symbol of the future destiny of our nation and it’s the children that propagate the next generation. If children are dead, then the community will be dead,” Dorcas emphasized.
Pastor Dorcas who terms herself as the mother of the boy child has been fighting to end drug abuse across the country.
She also called on the church in a recent address, asking the clergy to stand firm and name drug dealers within their areas of service.

The prayer breakfast was also attended by Mutahi Kahiga, Governor Nyeri County; Duncan Mathenge, Member of Parliament Nyeri Town Constituency and John Kaguchia Member of Parliament Mukuwerini;
Others present included Members of the Nyeri Ecumenical Council of Bishops and clergy; and officials from Nyeri County.
