A section of politicians allied to Kenya Kwanza coalition have questioned whether Wiper Democratic Movement Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka will be expelled from the Azimio One Kenya Alliance Coalition for attending an event at State House.
On Wednesday, September 6, Kalonzo attended a banquet hosted at State House for visiting Heads of State and Governments after the closure of the Africa Climate Summit.
This is the first time Kalonzo visited State House since President William Ruto took over office in September 2022.
Kenya Kwanza Leaders Reactions
Nandi Senator Kiprotich Arap Cherargei said the double standards by Azimio Leader Raila Odinga is unprecedented and hypocritical.
In a tweet, Cherargei stated that Kalonzo’s State House visit comes after Kisumu Senator Prof Tom Ojienda, Lang’ata MP Felix Odiwuor alias Jalang’o and other politicians were expelled for the same reason.
“Kalonzo was in the State House yesterday where before him my law lecturer Sen. Prof. Ojienda, Jalango and others visited the State House and have been expelled. Will Kalonzo also be expelled from Azimio-OKA or Wiper party for going to state House yesterday?” asked Cherargei.
Further, the senator questioned whether Raila himself will be punished for meeting with President Ruto.
“Raila has met President Ruto several times, will he also be expelled from ODM party of the Azimio Coalition? This political conmanship, intimidation and blackmail must end,” added Cherargei.

Similarly, Gatanga MP Edward Muriu also questioned why Kalonzo has not been ejected from the Azimio Coalition for visiting State House.
The MP asked ODM led by Raila Odinga to stop the politics of deceit, conmanship, and betrayal.
“Yesterday, Raila Odinga greeted DP Rigathi Gachagua and attended Government Function on Africa Climate Summit, today Kalonzo Musyoka was in State House, why have they not been expelled?” Muriu posed.
Additionally, Muriu told the ODM rebel MPs to stay put, adding that the will of the people is greater than the will of an individual.

Luo Nyanza Politicians
Further, Interior CAS Millicent Omanga questioned why only ODM politicians from Luo Nyanza are punished for associating with President Ruto while those from other regions work with the government freely.
“How come ODM party has expelled only Luo leaders yet there are other leaders from other regions aligned to ODM and Azimio who are also supporting and working with Kenya Kwanza Government?” posed Omanga.
Digital Media Strategist Lord Abraham Mutai also said that Kalonzo would have been expelled for working with President if he was a member of ODM.
Kalonzo on Ruto’s Legitimacy
On September 3, Kalonzo clarified on reports that he had recognized William Ruto as the president.
In a tweet, Kalonzo explained that the media had misquoted his statement on the legitimacy of the Kenya Kwanza Government.
“As Azimio we remain clear that the issues for discussion and negotiations as framed by both teams, include among others; A comprehensive audit of the 2022 presidential elections that in our view will finally settle the matter. So far, there has been political goodwill from both sides, and we congratulate our teams for this,” said Kalonzo.
Furthermore, the Wiper party boss encouraged Kenyans to participate in the bipartisan talks by sending their memoranda within the given timeline as recently advertised in the dailies.
