With President William Ruto clocking two years in office since his inauguration on September 13, 2022, his administration is facing a range of challenges.
As it recovers from a wave of street protests, activists including Eric Omondi are still piling pressure on Ruto to dissolve parliament and his entire government to allow Kenyans to have fresh elections.
Appearing on TV on Friday, September 13, 2024, Eric Omondi gave Ruto an ultimatum of one week to dissolve parliament and the cabinet.
“The parliament of Kenya is null and void. Kenyans voted a vote of no confidence on them. They voted against Kenyans during the Finance Act.
What Kenyans need is for the government to first dissolve parliament because Kenyans do not have trust in it,” The comedian cum activist said on Citizen TV.
Omondi explained that Ruto’s government has not been listening to the concerns of Kenyans saying, “Ever since parliamentarians went back to session, they have not spoken about the young people who died during protest, the new university funding model, or anything concerning Kenyans. They are supposed to be representatives of the people.”
According to Omondi, who has been arrested on several occasions, the looming protests will be a force that will see the Kenya Kwanza regime collapse.
“We are going to call for a mother of all demonstrations including doctors, airport workers, traders, teachers, student, and the demands are very clear. Dissolve parliament, fire the cabinet. This government will know no peace. “
