President William Ruto intensified his attacks against the United opposition leaders, led by Kalonzo Musyoka. Addressing a rally in Taita Taveta on Saturday, September 26, 2026, Ruto described them as a clueless bunch of individuals being used by former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Ruto also accused Uhuru and his allies of lacking a clear vision, plan, agenda, and policies.
“Those people, those wa sponyo, those people who hire others to think for them, are in a very bad state. Imagine, they have no vision, no plan, no agenda, and no policies,” stated Ruto.
Ruto also took a swipe at Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, referring to him as “Mr 40 Years” while responding to his remarks on ongoing road construction and other development projects.
The head of state said he had seen Kalonzo attribute the accelerated construction of the road towards his home in Tseikuru to God.
The President said the government was not only working on the Tseikuru road but had also planned other roads, including those leading to Njukini, Mtomwa Godi, Sagala and Rekeke.
“The other day, I saw my friend, Mr 40 Years, claiming that God is using me to quickly build the road heading towards his home, which is true. But I am not only building the road to Tseikuru,” Ruto said.
Ruto then turned Kalonzo’s comments into a political jibe, saying the former Vice President could also help publicize the development projects as they progressed.
He challenged Kalonzo to revisit the Ukia Road, which he said was under construction, and assess the progress made since his previous visit.

Ruto also asked Kalonzo to check on work at the Nziu Bridge and return later to assess the progress of a market project.
“God is helping me build roads, and He is also helping this gentleman, Mr. Forty, tirelessly, so that he too can be a reporter and publicize the work that is ongoing,” Ruto said.
At the same time, Ruto called out the opposition for being misused by Uhuru Kenyatta, their sponsor, who embraced the moniker ‘Sponyo.’ Do you want me to continue with the work of development and transforming the country? What about those people who are being used by their sponsor? They are so clueless; they have no vision, no plan, no manifesto, and they have no brain of their own. Their sponsor hired them.”
Ruto Lists Development Priorities
The President also listed several projects he said residents wanted his administration to continue implementing.
They included roads, electricity connections, markets, hostels, affordable housing, railway projects and stadiums.
Ruto also mentioned the issuance of title deeds, education and the recruitment of more teachers among the areas he wants his administration to pursue.
Kalonzo, a prominent opposition figure, has recently commented on the government’s renewed focus on road construction, including the Tseikuru road.

Ruto Announces 3,000 Jobs
Ruto also spoke about a factory project in Taita Taveta, which he officially opened, the Devki Iron Ore Pelletization Plant in Manga, saying the government was focused on processing raw materials locally rather than exporting them in their raw form.
He said the factory was complete and that electricity was being connected ahead of its planned operations.
The President said the factory would employ 3,000 young people from Taita Taveta beginning in November.
“I said we should not export raw materials; the factory should be built here. Now the factory is complete. In November, it will employ 3,000 young people from Taita Taveta. The factory is ready, I am connecting electricity, and I will come here next month, in November, and tell these young people to go and work so that we can move Taita Taveta forward and move Kenya forward,” Ruto said.
Ruto also listed several other projects his administration was implementing, including roads, electricity connections, markets, hostels, housing projects, railway development, and stadiums.
