Safaricom PLC and the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) have apologized for delays in accessing the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examination results.
The two institutions sent apologies to parents and candidates who have been unable to access the KCPE results.
While replying to complaints, Safaricom announced they are working to make SMS viewing for KCPE 2023 results available.
“Sorry for the inconvenience, we have a system issue currently under resolution/ we are making a follow up of the issue,” said Safaricom.
Further, the Company emphasized there is a system issue that is currently under resolution.
‘Our sincere apologies for the inconvenience. We implore your patience as our team is working towards clearing the backlog,” explained Safaricom.
On the other hand, KNEC sent short messages for the delay experienced in getting the results.

Additionally, the Commission will give an update once the service is back.
“Greetings, we apologize for the delay in accessing KCPE 2023 results. We will update you once they are available on 40054,” said KNEC.

Machogu
While releasing the results, Education CS Ezekiel Machogu said individual examination results can be accessed by sending the candidate’s Index number followed by the initials ‘KCPE’ to SMS code 40054.
Taking to its Facebook page, Safaricom said candidates and their families can access the results by sending a short text to the given code.
‘KCPE 2023 results are out! We know you put in the hard work, so may your results reflect your great efforts! Send the candidate’s index number to code 40054 at Ksh.25 per SMS to get their results instantly!” said Safaricom.
However, the feedback from candidates who have tried accessing the results has been the following message: “Dear customer, the KCPE 2023 results are not available. Kindly try again later after the announcement.”

KCPE Results Uproar
Parents and candidates from all over the country have criticized Safaricom for not availing the KCPE results.
Taking to social media, a section of Kenyans slammed Safaricom for deducting the Ksh.25 airtime despite the technical error.
” Why did you give a code that is not working, or it is money making strategy,” questioned Bishop Martin on Facebook.
Additionally, others said they have sent the short message severally but still haven’t been able to get the results.
” Safaricom PLC up your game, why post the code when your system is not working, to make it worse every attempt you are parting with our airtime,” said a user named Omare Brian.
Besides, some Kenyans on X asked Safaricom to refund the airtime for those who didn’t get the response.
“Safaricom has already taken my Ksh.50 and I have not received any results. It is way past announcement; this is robbery with violence,” posted Brian Murimi.
In addition, principals, teachers and parents who spoke to journalist raised similar complaints to Safaricom.
