Mombasa–Kwa Jomvu Interchange Opened to Traffic
On June 19, KeNHA announced that the 11.3-kilometer Mombasa–Kwa Jomvu Interchange had been opened to traffic.
KeNHA said the project is now 99.4 percent complete, with only minor finishing works remaining.
According to KeNHA, earlier delays were caused by compensation challenges, which have since been resolved, allowing construction to proceed and the road to be opened to motorists.

The authority noted that the new interchange is expected to improve traffic flow along the corridor, reduce congestion, and enhance road safety for road users.
Further, it noted that the Mombasa–Kwa Jomvu Interchange is part of the broader Mombasa–Mariakani road improvement programme, a key transport corridor that supports high volumes of passenger and cargo traffic linked to port activities.
The Jomvu section has for years experienced heavy congestion, particularly during peak periods.
