Timothy Ouma is among the fast-rising Kenyan footballers playing for clubs in Europe. Currently attached to Czech Republic club Slavia Prague, Ouma is coming off a successful season on loan at Polish Premier League club Lech Poznan. 

Timothy started playing football on the streets of Nairobi and went on to play in professional leagues in Europe.

At the age of 21, Timothy Ouma made a name in the football world, playing for several teams in European football, such as Elfsborg, Slavia Prague, and Lech Poznań.

Ouma has also made over 10 appearances for Harambee Stars.

Education and Early Life

Timothy Ouma was born in Nairobi and went to Riruta Youth Sports Academy (RYSA) for his early football development.

He joined Laiser Hill Academy, where he continued to develop his talent, and later began his professional career. His performances at youth level attracted attention from top-flight clubs in Kenya.

Timothy Ouma’s Club Career

Nairobi City Stars (2020–2022)

Timothy started his professional career at Nairobi City Stars in 2020 after signing a long-term contract.

He made his Kenyan Premier League debut in November 2020 and soon established himself as one of the league’s most promising young midfielders.

Ouma’s breakthrough was in the 2021/22 season.

He played for Nairobi City Stars, making 56 appearances and scoring 7 league goals, emerging as a key player and attracting interest from local and international teams.

IF Elfsborg (2022–2025)

Timothy Ouma secured a move to Swedish side IF Elfsborg in 2022.

He became an important member of Jimmy Thelin’s side, helping the team finish 6th in the Allsvenskan standings with 49 points.

His breakthrough in Sweden came during the 2024 season when he scored his first Allsvenskan goal against BK Hacken and made history in European competition.

Ouma became one of the few Kenyan players to score in UEFA competition when he scored against Pafos FC in the UEFA Europa League.

Timothy also registered an assist in the UEFA Europa League.

He made over 43 appearances and scored 3 goals for the Swedish side before his transfer to Slavia Prague.

Slavia Prague and Lech Poznań (2025–Present)

Timothy Ouma signed for Czech giants SK Slavia Prague in February 2025 on a long-term contract that is supposed to run till 2029.

After a few months, he joined the Polish side Lech Poznań on a season-long loan to gain more first-team experience.

International Career

Timothy has represented Kenya at various youth levels before joining the senior team.

He is a key player for Kenya, having been called regularly to the Harambee Stars due to his consistent performances in Europe, and has made more than 10 appearances for the Harambee Stars. Ouma was part of the squad that won the league with Poznan. However, the club confirmed in early June that the Kenyan midfielder would not resume training with the Polish champions, as his loan had ended.

“Plamen Andreev, Taofeek Ismaheel, and Timothy Ouma will not resume training with the Polish champions, as their loans to Kolejorz have come to an end,” Lech Poznań announced in a statement on June 21.
