Senators have been recalled for special sitting on Tuesday next week to debate the impeachment motion against Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza.
On Thursday, Senate Speaker Amason Kingi received impeachment documents from the Meru county assembly.
Meru MCA’s voted on Wednesday to kick out the county chief.
Since her election in August,Mwangaza has not been seeing eye to eye with the county legislators and has accused external forces of being behind her woes.
In case of an impeachment of a governor, the County Governments Act provides that the assembly speaker shall notify his senate counterpart of the House’s resolution within two days of the MCA’s decision.
The process for removal of a governor is provided for under Article 181 of the Constitution.
A member tabling the motion must receive the support of two-thirds of MCAs to move the motion.

The Senate has two ways in which the matter can be determined.
Senators can either choose to use a plenary where the parties will be allowed to defend and or lay their case before the whole House before a vote is undertaken.
Senators may also decide to form a committee which will be made up of 11 members to probe the matter.
Voting in either of the two ways will be by delegation, this means only elected members will participate.
At least 24 senators of the 47 will be required to approve the resolution of either approving or rejecting the impeachment.
Mwangaza has termed her impeachment as a violation of the law arguing that she had a court order preventing the county assembly from debating any impeachment motion against her.
