Police officers have launched a manhunt for four Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidates at Shiners Boys High School in Gilgil, Nakuru County.
According to Gilgil sub-county police commander Winstone Mwakio, the four stabbed to death another candidate on Saturday, November 9, night.
The deceased, who was their classmate, was accused of destroying the property of the four students.
According to the police, the suspect has been suspended from the school. However, they reported back to sit for their exams and discovered that their personal items had been destroyed.

Mwakio revealed that the main suspect fled away with the knife after the crime. He is since being pursued while his three accomplices have already been identified.
Moreover, after the attack, the victim was rushed to Nakuru Level 6 Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
“The four had been suspended for indiscipline cases. We can’t tell how they acquired the knife but the students there are notorious,” said Mwakio said.
The body has been taken to the Nakuru morgue pending an autopsy examination.

KCSE Candidates Who have Died so Far
Earlier on November 5, 19-year-old 2024 KCSE candidate Calistus Wamboye died in class as he awaited to sit his exams, despite not showing any prior signs of illness.
Calistus was a student at Ebubere Secondary School in Mumias East Constituency, Kakamega County
According to his family, Calistus and his sibling, who is also sitting for the same national examination, left home in good health on Tuesday morning.
Also, Meru County Commissioner Jacob Juma on Monday, November 4, announced that a candidate passed away on the night of Sunday, November 3.
In another tragedy, Abel Mwendwa, a KCSE student at Katelembo Center of Excellence High School died on October 20.
Abel drowned while swimming at a dam near the school. He was returning home when the incident occurred.
