Sifuna Reveals the Amount Ruto Pays MPs Who Visit State House

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has claimed that some Members of Parliament (MPs) receive as little as Ksh100,000 whenever President William Ruto invites them to State House.

Speaking on Wednesday, January 15, Sifuna criticized the MPs stating that the amount is too small for leaders of their stature.

“When you hear these members talking, some of them are called to State House for as low as Ksh100,000. That is money I can personally give Ruto. As an MP, you know my salary, and I can loan Ruto Ksh100,000 if he is in a fix and needs it,” he remarked.

Sifuna also argued that his role as the Secretary-General of ODM carries more weight than the responsibilities of some elected leaders.

MPs Receiving Small Favours

He accused certain ODM members of aligning with Ruto for minor favors, such as receiving Teachers Service Commission (TSC) recruitment letters from State House.

“The responsibility on me as the SG of ODM is greater than that of some elected members who are making noise because, over Christmas, Ruto gave them 10 TSC letters to employ their cronies,” Sifuna stated.

He emphasized the need to establish a fair system where employment opportunities are accessible to all qualified individuals without political interference.

“Some young people have waited for jobs for eight years. I am sure they can wait two more years while we build a country where knowing someone is not a requirement to access employment opportunities,” he said.

Sifuna Says ODM Can Win 2027 Polls

Sifuna reiterated that ODM’s goal is to compete for power with other parties, including UDA, and expressed confidence in ODM’s chances of forming the government in the 2027 elections.

“There has never been a better opportunity for ODM to form the government than now,” he said.

He pointed out that President Ruto was declared winner by a margin of 200,000 votes in the last election.

Sifuna argued that ODM and Azimio only need to maintain their constituencies and remain united to secure victory.

“We have a very clear chance of forming a government. The question I ask myself is with that clarity, why would anyone want to York themselves with a very unpopular President. It is a mistake that I as SG would not want ODM to make,” he added.
