Standard-owned Spice FM has unexpectedly canceled a scheduled interview on The Situation Room featuring Environment Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale.
Duale was set to appear on Spice FM on Wednesday, February 26, at 8:00 a.m., with the interview headlined “Striking a Balance Between Politics and Development.”
Confirming the cancellation, Duale took to his social media account to express his sincere apologies to Spice FM listeners.
According to him, the show was cancelled for reasons known to the station’s owners.
“The station’s owners have abruptly cancelled my interview for reasons best known to them,” Duale said.
“This move speaks volumes, and now you can clearly see the pattern behind the Standard Newspaper’s recent headlines.”
Aden Duale Laments After Spice FM Abruptly Cancels His Interview
The CS went on to lament that former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua was given extensive airtime on KTN News on Monday, February 24.
He alleged that the former DP dominated the interview show and spread falsehoods.
“Just yesterday, the impeached Rigathi Gachagua was given an open stage on KTN News to peddle falsehoods and wild imaginations,” he claimed.
“The platform was his, and he used it as expected. But let it be known; I did not seek this interview. They reached out to me. I was ready. Ipo Siku!”

Kenyans have since expressed mixed reactions following Aden Duale’s post, with many taking to social media to share their opinions on the matter.
Some users criticized the Environment Cabinet Secretary for prioritizing media appearances over his official duties, while others defended him, arguing that government officials should have a platform to communicate with the public.
One user, JKamau, voiced his disapproval, stating: “Ndugu Duale, relax sir… Your work as a Cabinet Secretary is not to attend interviews on FM stations.”
“Your job is to manage our environment, which Ndugu Johnson Sakaja is currently dirtying at Kenya Power offices, yet Ndugu Duale is silent, desiring to attend FM interviews. Bad!” He added.
Another user Simon Muhoro opined, “We wish you are out there on the ground designing new and modern ways of recycling waste in Nairobi to make it clean and habitable rather than running up and down corridors of media houses telling us about Rigathi.”
Meanwhile, Sam Masika chimed in stating, “What would you have said apart from the usual noise and sycophancy. I think even Kenyans want to hear an alternative ideology. Thanks to the standard. Tumechoka!”
