St. Joseph’s Girls Senior School in Kitale has dismissed reports circulating online that a student was arrested on the school premises in possession of a firearm or ammunition.

In a statement dated June 24, 2026, the school’s administration termed the claims false and accused Citizen Weekly of spreading misleading information that could damage the institution’s reputation.

“This is to inform the general public that there has been no incident of a girl being arrested in our school over a gun or ammunition. What is being circulated by Citizen Weekly is in bad taste,” read part of the statement.

The school maintained that no such incident had occurred and challenged the investigating officer allegedly involved in the reported arrest to publicly clarify the circumstances of the case, including where and when the alleged ammunition was recovered.

Chief Principal Rosebella K. Munzala urged members of the public to disregard the reports, stating that the claims are intended to tarnish the image of the school.

“Kindly ignore such information that is intended to tarnish the image of the school,” read part of the statement.

The school further urged the public to disregard the claims, warning that the spread of false information could harm the reputation of its learners, staff, and the institution as a whole.

It also revealed that it was consulting its legal team and considering legal action against individuals responsible for originating and disseminating what it described as defamatory claims.

The school reiterated its commitment to student safety and welfare and encouraged members of the public to seek verification directly from the administration regarding any information concerning the institution.
