A saloon car stolen in Embu County has been recovered after a Ksh50,000 reward was declared. The stolen car was found in Ruiru, Kiambu County on Friday September 27.
According to a statement by road safety advocacy organization named Sikika Road Safety, the car was stolen at a hotel in Embu.
CCTV footage obtained from the hotel showed a man dressed in a white shirt and black pants walking towards the vehicle and confidently opening the door.
After a moment of hesitation, the suspect switched the engine on and drove out of the hotel.
The distressed owner then reached out to several agencies for help in tracing his car including the police.
According to records shared on social media, the theft case was reported on Thursday, September 26, at the Embu Police Station.
In a subsequent appeal shared on Facebook, the owner promised to reward Ksh.50,000 to any person who would help trace the car.
“50k reward. The owner of this vehicle, which was stolen from the video that we shared yesterday, in a hotel in Embu has promised to give 50k to anyone who will lead in assisting in the recovery of the vehicle.
“If you see it reach us or to the nearest police station,” read the statement.
On Friday, September 27, Sikika announced that the car was found in Ruiru, further expressing the owner’s joy.
“Always remember when we come together great things happen,” Sikika, which is known for its safety advocacy initiatives announced.
Recovery of Stolen Cars
On September 23, the Daily Monitor published an article on stolen vehicles that were recovered in Busia.
The police in Uganda reported that the recovery of the vehicle was fueled by the good ties with the Kenyan authorities.
Moreover, the five vehicles were recovered by the Busia District Police who believe that the vehicles were stolen from Kampala the capital of Uganda the neighboring country.

Among the stollen vehicles was a new double cabin pickup that belongs to the Inspector General of Police in Uganda. The pickup was reported to have been stolen from Kireka, one of the suburbs in Kampala.
Through the assistance offered by the Kenya Police, and the use of Geographical Positioning System (GPS) trackers, the vehicle was successfully recovered at a house along Mumias Road in Busia as reported by Bukedi South Region Police Moses Mugwe.
“We share information on various cross-border crimes and that is why we are able to recover some of these stolen vehicles,” said the Ugandan Police.
Earlier, on September 12, another Toyota Wish of registration number UBP 856Q was recovered by Busia District Detectives. It is reported that the car was stolen at gunpoint at Bomba by a crew of six men who had two AK47 rifles.

Michael Marko, the driver of the car, reported that it was stolen from him on the evening of September 10.
