Supreme Court Judge Justice Mohammed Ibrahim has been elected to represent the country’s top court on the Judicial Service Commission for a term of five years.
Justice Ibrahim will replace Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu, whose term is ending.
He was elected unopposed in voting overseen by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC)
The JSC has 11 members chaired by Chief Justice Martha Koome.
Other members are Attorney-General Paul Kihara Kariuki,Justice Mohamed Warsame representing the Court of Appeal, Patrick Gichohi the Public Service Commission representative, Prof Olive Mugenda and Felix Koskei (public representatives), Macharia Njeru (Law Society of Kenya male representative), Justice David Majanja (High Court representative) and Everlyn Olwande (representing the Magistrates Court).
Justice Ibrahim was appointed judge of the inaugural Supreme Court of Kenya on June 16, 2011.
