Residents of Nthangariri village, Embu County, are in shock after Dennis Mukono Mwaniki, a teacher was found dead inside his house.
In a confusing turn of events, Mukono was found dead barely a day after inviting friends for an event on the upcoming Valentines Day on February 14.
In the post on Facebook, Dennis shared a message stating, “Evening Members when you are stressed you just need one friend to share with, meanwhile I invite you to my function on 14/2/2024 welcome all.”
His body was discovered in his house after an alarm raised by family members and friends.
According to the police, Dennis Mwaniki’s family members had tried to contact him, but their calls went unanswered. At the time, the man had locked himself inside his house.
Upon receiving the reports, police arrived and broke down the door, only to stumble on his dead body.
In their search on the scene, police discovered two sachets believed to insecticides and a suicide note they believe was written by the deceased.

But it is the content of the discovered note that has left many talking and perplexed.
The note began with a statement reading, “Just decided to rest in peace” adding that he had tried all means, but everything had been in vain.
In the letter, Mwaniki is said to have given a hint that his decision to take his own life was a result of a heartbreak after a woman he was in love with declined his marriage proposal.

He went on to identify a lady and shared her number, stating that she should read his eulogy in the funeral.

In addition, Mwaniki specified that his burial should take place on the February 14, the same day he had invited friends for a function, and even named the location.
Mwaniki also appointed two men as the speakers and organizers of his funeral and specified the photo he wanted the organizers to use on his funeral’s program.
About the fate of his property, the man said his belongings should “be distributed to my children if any” to add to the questions arising from his dead.

According to his note, he had unsuccessfully shared his depression struggles with 17 people.
“I promised to love till my last breath. I may look stupid, but I have shared my story with 17 people, none talked to me let’s meet in heaven,” he wrote in the note.
Police officers asked residents to open up about their challenges.
With the alarming number of suicide cases in the country, the government has set up online therapy sessions where people with challenges can open up.
In addition, there are several organizations which offer free therapy sessions for distressed persons.
