Teachers are voicing their frustration for being unable to apply for 46,000 permanent and pensionable jobs advertised by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).

After the job advertisement, thousands of teachers rushed to the website to apply. However, they have been receiving an error message.

Consequently, many of the interested and qualified candidates have been unable to submit their applications

Many of these teachers are now feeling locked out and anxious as the application deadline set for October 7, approaches.

“An error occurred. Sorry, the page you are looking for is currently unavailable. Please try again later.

“If you are the system administrator of this resource then you should check the error log for details. Faithfully yours, Open Resty,” the error message reads.

Teachers Air their Frustrations

Baba Raylee on X called out the Teachers Service Commission for its unpreparedness and failure on the ICT department.

“Whoever you contracted in your ICT department is a big let down to the teachers who are trying to apply the recently advertised jobs TSC.

“Fire all your ICT personnel and get competent people. Unless you have an agenda,” the user stated.

Also, User Terernicholas82 asked the commission to issue an update on the matter as he had been trying to access the site for days.

“Kindly tell us what is happening with your website. Have been trying to log in since yesterday but not possible Dateline for job application is Monday and I can’t log in,” stated the user.

His sentiments have been echoed by hundreds of other teachers online including Alex Wekesa and user Kfestol who indicated that the system error was discouraging for applicants.

“How can the commission advertise for online job recruitment, yet the website is shut down?” questioned Alex.

“Kenya is full of jokes. Why do you jam the system after advertisement. Do you know how much you are costing us job seekers?’ questioned Kfestol.

Details of the Advertised Jobs

In a notice on Tuesday October 1, TSC invited applications from qualified teachers to fill 6,000 posts for Primary Schools, 39,550 posts for Junior Secondary Schools (JSS), and 450 posts for Secondary Schools.

“Interested and qualified candidates were directed to submit their applications online through the Teachers Service Commission’s website, www.tsc.go.ke, under ‘Careers’ or teachersonline.tsc.go.ke, not later than 7th October 2024, at midnight.

The Commission explained that serving interns are expected to apply in their current counties, sub-counties, or workstations.

Moreover, serving interns will only be required to present their identity cards during the verification process.

The recruitment exercise is free of charge, and TSC has warned applicants against fraudsters who might ask for money, pretending to assist in recruitment.
