The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced a six-day traffic disruption on the Thika Superhighway.
KeNHA, in a notice on Friday, December 6, announced temporary traffic disruption at Juja Highpoint (Centurion) along Thika Superhighway (A2) Road.
The disruption will last for six days from Thursday December 12 to Tuesday December 17 between 2300hrs to 0600hrs.
“The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) would like to inform the public that Thika Superhighway shall be partially closed at Juja Highpoint (Centurion) to enable the construction of the footbridge as from Thursday December 12, 2024, to Tuesday December 17, 2024, between 2300hrs to 0600hrs,” read the notice in part.
“Motorists are requested to exercise caution around the work areas, to follow the proposed traffic management plan below and cooperate with the police and traffic marshals on site.”
Motorists Alternative on Thika Superhighway
Nairobi bound traffic will have to use a diversion behind Lexo petrol station before rejoining the Superhighway.
Meanwhile, Thika-bound traffic will use a diversion behind Centurion Hotel before rejoining the Superhighway.

For Nairobi Bound Traffic
- Main Route: Continue on the Nairobi-bound lanes until reaching the diversion point behind Lexo Petrol Station.
- Diversion:
- Exit the main Nairobi-bound lanes.
- Follow the diverted path around the Lexo Petrol Station area.
- Merge back onto the Nairobi-bound lanes after passing the diversion zone.
For Thika Bound Traffic
- Main Route: Stay on the Thika-bound lanes until you reach the diversion near Centurion.
- Diversion:
- Take the detour around the Centurion Hotel, which is clearly marked for vehicles to follow.
- The detour avoids construction or congestion points.
- After completing the detour, merge back onto the Thika-bound lanes.
This comes after the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) announced a temporary traffic disruption at Haile Selassie Roundabout.

Traffic Diversion at Haile Selassie Roundabout
KeNHA, in a notice to the public, disclosed that the disruption began on November 28 and will continue through January 17. Motorists are advised to plan accordingly and expect delays in the area.
According to KeNHA, the disruption will primarily affect the roundabout on Uhuru Highway and is necessary to facilitate the construction of a pedestrian underpass.
“The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) would like to inform the public of a temporary traffic disruption at Haile Selassie Roundabout on Uhuru Highway (A8) Road,” read a notice from its Director General, Kungu Ndung’u.
“This is due to scheduled roadworks for the construction of a pedestrian underpass, which will commence from Thursday, November 28, 2024, to Friday, January 17, 2025.”
