The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced planned disruptions on Nairobi’s Western Bypass.
In a notice on Friday, KeNHA announced that motorists will experience traffic disruption along the Gitaru bound lanes on Saturday, November 16, 2024, from 6.00am to 10.00 am.
As per the notice, motorists will share the Ruaka-bound lanes for both inbound and outbound traffic.
The disruption, KeNHA added, is to allow for the family run event by the Aglican Church of Kenya (ACK) – Mt. Kenya South, to take place.
KeNHA advised motorists to follow the proposed traffic management plan and cooperate with the police and traffic marshals on site.
Earier on Friday, KeNHA notified the Public that a section of Meru – Embu (A9) Road between Muthambi and Nithi Bridge will be closed on Sunday, November 17, 2024 from 8.30am to 9.30am.

This disruption will allow for a procession to mark World Day of Remembrance of road traffic crash victims from Muthambi DCC grounds to Nithi Bridge. Motorists plying on this road shall use the following alternative routes:

- Motorists from Embu towards Meru will take a right turn at 50m before the bridge, pass through Muthambi Vocational Training Centre and join the main road at Muthambi Centre.
- Motorists from Meru towards Embu will take a left turn at Muthambi Centre, through Muthambi Vocational Training Centre and join the main road at 50m past the bridge.

KeNHA also notified the public that a section of Mombasa – Nairobi (A8) Highway will experience traffic disruption between the Makupa Bridge and Changamwe Interchange from Sunday November 17 to Sunday December 1, 2024.
This disruption is due to a planned road construction and drainage works between the Makupa Bridge and Changamwe area.
“The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) wishes to notify the public that a section of Mombasa – Nairobi (A8) Highway will experience traffic disruption between the Makupa Bridge and Changamwe Interchange from Sunday November 17, 2024 to Sunday December 1, 2024,” the notice from KeNHA read in part.
