Two men who were filmed hanging dangerously on a moving Mercedes-Benz in Nairobi have been arrested and are set to be arraigned at the Milimani court on Tuesday April 23.
The incident occurred on the Southern Bypass, where the men were seen recklessly clinging onto the car’s exterior as it sped along the highway.
A concerned citizen captured the video which quickly went viral, prompting the authorities to take action and track down the individuals responsible for the dangerous stunt.
According to reports, the two men, who have been identified as Peter Igadwa Agawy (23) and Peleg Mosongo Momari (20) spent the night at Capital Hill Police Station following their arrest on Monday April 22.
The vehicle they were hanging onto, has since been detained at the Nairobi Area Traffic Headquarters, pending the arrest of the female driver, who has been identified as Loise Apata.
CS Murkomen Condemns the Actions
Their arrest comes after Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen took to social media condemning the reckless act portrayed in the video.
He also called out the car’s owner asking him if he was aware of how his car was recklessly being driven, endangering the lives of other road users.

“Mr. James Gathogo Njeri this is how your car white Mercedes Benz KCX 959B class E-250 was being driven on Mombasa Road in one of those “where is the Minister” moments,”
“We are concerned, and a responsible citizen has alerted us. We shall do what we must,” wrote Murkomen on X.
Govt Efforts to Curb Road Accidents
This incident follows the launch of the National Road Safety Action Plan, where government agencies and stakeholders in the transport sector met to find solutions to the growing concern of Road Safety.
Speaking during the event President William Ruto gave Transport CS Murkomen an ultimatum, giving him one year to implement the strategy and reduce the number of accidents.

“I look forward to one year from now we will have another meeting and Kipchumba Murkomen you better come with results that the numbers are coming down otherwise you will be in a lot of trouble,” said President Ruto.
Additionally, he also tasked Murkomen with implementing instant fines arguing that 90 days is a long time to charge individuals found breaking traffic rules.
“We have been talking about the instant fines for a very long time. Let’s do it so that everyone behaves well since they know someone is watching,” he said.
