Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has secured another win in court after the Nairobi Court of Appeal rejected a request for interim stay orders sought by a rebel faction of the Jubilee Party.
This follows the Nairobi High Court’s ruling in September affirming the leadership of the Jubilee Party. The appeal’s judgment is set for delivery on 7th March 2025.

The appeal’s judgment is set for delivery on 7th March 2025,” Jubilee Party led by former President Uhuru Kenyatta reacted to the ruling.
The win comes shortly after securing another victory of regained the control of Jubilee Party following a court ruling made on Monday, September 30 in favor of embattled Vice Chair David Murathe.
According to an article published by the nation media group indicated that the retired president Uhuru Kenyatta ordered that the Jubilee rebels to be kicked out from the party.
At the same time Jubilee hinted the expulsion of Member of Parliament Sabina Chege who is the nominated Member of the National Assembly and Kanini Kega the East African Legislative Assembly representative who have been identified as the rebels.
The order for their removal aimed at making them lose their positions in the outlined assemblies.
Former National Assembly Minority Leader Opiyo Wandayi wrote a letter to Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, protesting the appointment of Chege as the Jubilee Party whip. He argued that this decision was inappropriate, given that Jubilee is an affiliate of the Azimio la Umoja One Coalition Party.

Jubilee Party National Executive Council
At a Jubilee Party National Executive Council meeting in October 2023, the party directed Embakasi West MP Mark Mwenje, who replaced Chege, to expedite the removal of MPs aligned with President Ruto from their committee positions by coordinating with the minority leadership.

Furthermore, media reports quoted the Jubilee Vice Chairperson David Murathe who said, “MPs who were given committee positions were given courtesy of Azimio. We have told Mwanje to remove party rebels from the committees.”

Sabina Chege Goes Court to Block Ouster from Uhuru Party
Owing to the foregoing information the nominated MP Sabina Chege of the Jubilee party proceeded to court to prevent her removal from the position of minority whip in the National Assembly.
Notably, she filed an application by the assistance of the Association of Friends of Youth and Women (AFYW), Chege asked the High Court to intervene and block her removal from the position.
On the other hand, Chege feared that the proposal of her removal by the Azimio Coalition appealed to the infringement of her fundamental rights.
In the current development on the case, President Uhuru Kenyatta who is recognized by the Jeremiah Kioni faction as the Jubilee leader has secured victory.
