The United Kingdom has announced a $193 million (about £142 million) support package for Ukraine, reinforcing its long-term commitment to the country’s defence and recovery as the conflict with Russia continues.
British Foreign Minister Yvette Cooper is scheduled to visit Kyiv on Friday, marking her first foreign trip since taking office.
According to the UK government, she will meet President Volodymyr Zelenskiy and senior Ukrainian officials to confirm Britain’s continued backing for Ukraine’s sovereignty and security.
“Ukraine’s security is crucial to the UK’s security,” Cooper said in a statement released ahead of the trip.
She added that the United Kingdom would maintain close cooperation with Ukrainian authorities as they defend against ongoing Russian aggression.
Details of the Aid Package
The latest funding forms part of a broader assistance programme first announced in June 2025.
The package includes £100 million in humanitarian aid aimed at supporting frontline communities affected by the war, as well as £42 million to repair and protect critical energy infrastructure repeatedly targeted by Russian missile and drone strikes.
UK officials said the resources are intended to help Ukraine maintain essential services through the coming winter and to strengthen its ability to recover from attacks on power grids and other vital facilities.
The support also extends to health and emergency services working in conflict zones.
Defence Cooperation and Technology
Alongside the financial assistance, Britain confirmed plans to mass-produce Ukrainian-designed interceptor drones.

The initiative is part of a wider UK-Ukraine defence co-production effort designed to counter Russian missile and drone attacks.
Officials described the project to enhance Ukraine’s air defences and develop home-grown technologies that can be deployed quickly on the battlefield.
The UK Ministry of Defence highlighted that this collaboration would allow both nations to share technical expertise and scale up production, ensuring that Ukrainian forces have consistent access to advanced equipment.
Broader Geopolitical Context
The announcement comes amid heightened tensions following reports of Russian drones entering NATO airspace in Poland earlier this week.
British leaders emphasised that continued support for Kyiv remains essential to European security and stability.

While London has not unveiled a fresh set of economic sanctions in this latest statement, officials reiterated that existing measures against Moscow remain in force.
The UK government confirmed that it will continue to evaluate further steps to maintain pressure on Russia should the conflict escalate.
By combining financial aid, humanitarian relief, and joint defence projects, the United Kingdom aims to help Ukraine withstand another challenging winter and to deter further Russian attacks on critical infrastructure and civilian populations.
