Machakos Deputy Governor Francis Mwangangi has addressed questions on the whereabouts of his boss Governor Wavinya Ndeti.
Speaking on Citizen TV’s Day Break, the deputy governor said that his boss is indeed out of the county, but on official duties.
Additionally, he has explained that Ndeti assigned him duties before she left, to ensure that the county was running smoothly even with her absence.
However, the deputy has revealed that he is swamped with work.
“Even before she left, there was a number of duties that were assigned to me, and I have not even half of what was left behind for me to do. Where I sit, I have a lot,” he said.

Further, Mwangangi said that he has been required to lead and attend several meetings, forcing him to leave office late at night.
“I left the office yesterday almost 8:30 Pm and we were working. I have a number of scheduled meetings. My boss, the governor is currently out of the country,” he said.
Despite his situation, he has hailed his boss saying that she is a great leader with outstanding experience that has proven useful to the county.
“I have one advantage; I have a boss who has previously been a member of parliament. She has been an assistant minister to two presidents, so she understands leadership.
“Leave alone my relationship with her, there is an understanding, and she really respects that office of the deputy governor. I am not just saying that because I am on national TV,” he added.

Additionally, she indicated that she was seeking investment opportunities for Machakos County and a new city that is to be established.
“This evening, I engaged in a highly constructive discussion with the Azimio UK Leadership in London, led by Wiper Diaspora SG Thomas Musau. We deliberated on the lucrative investment opportunities in Machakos, with a specific emphasis on the Machakos New City.
“I emphatically restated my government’s unwavering commitment to proactively creating and earmarking investment opportunities in Machakos County for Kenyans in the diaspora,” she sated.
Earlier, Ndeti denied reports that she was stranded in the United Kingdom after foreign banks blocked her from depositing funds in Kenyan currency.
It was alleged that governor Wavinya’s son was arrested in possession of Ksh679 million and that he was detained after failing to provide a satisfactory explanation of how he acquired such a substantial amount of money.
She rubbished the reports citing criticisms as political propaganda.
