Former Kiambu County governor Ferdinand Waititu has expressed his disappointment in the Kenya Kwanza Government stating that the Mount Kenya region will not support Ruto’s Presidential bid in 2027.
Speaking during the consecration of Bishop Ben Kiengei of JSM on Friday, Waititu stated that the Mt Kenya region will not sit and watch as the Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is humiliated.
The former MP went on to state that the region will have a presidential candidate to regain its political glory in the upcoming 2027 elections.
“In 2027, the region will have its presidential candidate, so that we will have someone to negotiate on our behalf,” Waititu clarified.
“We regret electing President William Ruto in the previous elections, and we have lost trust in his government,” Waititu said.
Additionally, the former Kiambu governor affirmed his support for the deputy president’s One Man, one vote, one shilling proposal saying that it is the only way the region can benefit immensely.
Waititu ‘s Remarks
“We are supporting you in your One Man, one vote, one shilling bid because we identify and resonate with the problems Mt Kenya people,” Waititu said.
While speaking in his native language, Waititu went ahead to bash Nairobi County governor stating that he has been among the leaders who have been mocking the deputy president.

“In 2022 we UDA voted in Sakaja and right now he is being ungrateful and in 2027 we will make sure that Nairobi County Governor will come from MT Kenya region,” Ex Kiambu governor affirmed.
While expressing her disappointment in the proposed finance bill, Githunguri MP Gathoni wa Muchomba asked the government to heed to the requests of young Kenyans, who have been holding demonstrations refuting the punitive bill.
While speaking in her native language, the Member of parliament went ahead to condemn police brutality in the protests, stating that the police should provide security and not oppress them.
This statement follows recent deaths reported during the anti-finance bill protests with the latest one being Rex Kanyike Masai who was shot on 20th, June,2024.

“Our children should not be killed while fighting for their rights and we have given a three-day ultimatum to IPOA to make sure that the officer who killed Rex is brought to book,” said Wamuchomba.
Additionally, Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka backed Gachagua’s bid saying that his push will not only benefit the central region but the whole country.
Likewise, he termed the GEN Z led protests as peaceful since they were not armed, and they are just a generation taking their position.

“This is Generation Z are brave and very intelligent, the have proved that there is a nation to look after,” she said.
The event was attended by DAP Party Leader Eugene Wamalwa ,Githunguri Member of Parliament Gathoni wa Muchomba, and Nyeri county Governor Mutahi Kahiga among others.
