Further, the report indicated that in the following three months, most parts of the country would experience sunny and dry weather conditions.
At the same time, a few areas over the western sector and especially those around the Lake Victoria region and Southern Rift Valley may experience occasional rainfall in January and February.
However, some rainfall will be recorded in March in some parts of the country including Rift Valley, the coastal region among other areas.
“In March, the rainfall is expected to spread to several places. This rainfall is expected to be above the January- February- March,” the weatherman reported.
“The Highlands East of the Rift Valley, the South-eastern lowlands and the Coastal regions are expected to remain generally sunny and dry though a few days may experience rainfall that is expected to be above the January to March,” stated the report.
At the same time, the met department noted that temperatures are expected to be warmer than average over most parts of the country.

“Daytime (Maximum) temperatures over northeast and northwest are expected to be high and may occasionally rise beyond 370C,” explained the statement.
Effect on Food and Water Resources
On the other hand, the metrological department noted that the sunny and dry weather conditions will be favorable for crop harvesting as well as land preparations in readiness for the coming planting season.
“The public is encouraged to seek guidance from the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development,” it noted.
Likewise, the weather conditions will affect water availability in the country. The weatherman advised Kenyans to adopt rainwater harvesting and storage practices.
“Water availability for both human and livestock use is expected to decline further, especially in the ASAL areas as a result of the dry weather conditions,” indicated the weatherman.
In addition, the report indicated that the increased flow in reservoirs is expected to boost hydropower generation and contribute to groundwater recharge for geothermal power production.
Also, the report indicated that the expected dry conditions may result in dry vegetation cover advising Kenyans to “avoid activities which are likely to lead to the occurrence of wildfires in forests, parks, and game reserves.”
