The government has announced plans to launch a digital system for reporting cases to the National Police Service (NPS).
In a statement on January 14, the Ministry of Interior said Kenyans will not have to physically visit police stations after the system is launched in April 2025.
Interior PS Raymond Omollo held a meeting with the European Union (EU) ambassador to Kenya Henriette Geiger to discuss the rollout of the system.
“Beginning April 2025, you will no longer be required to visit a police station to report incidents. Omollo met with Henriette Geiger to discuss support for the digitization of National Police Service operations,” the Ministry said.
The government will also roll out a digital system to process traffic fines and implement a digital occurrence book as part of these efforts.
This builds on the Security and Defense strategic dialogue with development partners held in the final quarter of 2024.
“Central to these efforts is the introduction of a digital system for processing traffic fines and the implementation of a digital occurrence book,” reads another part of the statement.
