Several witnesses have volunteered information over the last moments before a fatal shooting incident implicating a Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) officer.
According to a police report, a KWS officer identified as Mohammed Daud, shot a man at a bar in Ongata Rongai, hours before turning the gun on himself.
Police revealed that the deceased KWS ranger stormed the nightclub in the wee hours of Saturday, August 17 morning after having an altercation previously.
He ordered everyone to lie down and cover their faces before shooting Stanley Kuria three times.

Bartender and Other Witnesses Reveal Moments Before the Shooting
According to the bar owner, the KWS officer showed up at the joint minutes after the 24-year-old victim rushed in.
She said that Kuria was scared for his life, saying that a man was chasing after him. Moments later they heard gunshots and saw the lifeless body of the 24-year-old on the floor.
“The man came in here running saying that he was being followed, we did not know that the officer was the one following him. He came and shot him here,” Leah Gathumbi, a bartender said.
At the same time, Kuria’s friend Cliff Oyombe narrated that the officer and Kuria had a disagreement the previous day. In retaliation, the KWS officers followed the man to the bar and shot at him.
“He came with a gun and shot my brother. I came to the bar at 5 o’clock and found blood stains everywhere. My friend was dragged out of this bar,” he said in tears.

The officer then forced a bodaboda rider to take him to a nearby shop where he demanded for khat worth Ksh70, commonly known as ‘Muguka.’
Moreover, the shopkeeper said that instead of paying the bill, the man pulled out a gun and pointed it at him. He then proceeded to forve the bodaboda rider to transport him around the area before finally letting him go.
“I was riding towards the sound of the gunshot and met the man. He ordered me to do exactly as he said if I did not want anything bad to happen,
“We stopped at a shop where he dropped something off and threatened the attendants. We then proceeded to Maasai lodge stage.
“I asked him to alight, and he asked me to take him to a workshop. I left him there and went back, ” John Wamae, the bodaboda rider narrated.
The bodies of the two were moved to city mortuary in Nairobi.
