The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) arrested an 18-year-old woman after she allegedly attempted to smuggle a pair of pliers and shears to three suspects held at Ruai Police Station, hiding the tools in a plate of rice and meat.
In a statement on September 16, the DCI said the lady arrived at the station carrying food which she intended to deliver to three friends being held over robbery with violence and gang rape.
The three suspects are being held at the station over allegations linked to an anonymous TikTok page.
“The suspect strolled into the station reception with all the calm of an innocent visitor, requesting to see three friends held over robbery with violence and gang rape. In her hands: a plate of rice and meat, packed with what she claimed was nothing more than a meal for three suspects,” stated the agency.
DCI Uncovers Attempt to Smuggle Jailbreak Tools to Suspects
According to the statement, the suspects allegedly used the page to lure young women into meetings before gang-raping and robbing them of their valuables.

However, officers became suspicious of the food the woman had brought for the suspects and searched the plate.
“A routine scoop through the food led to a shocking discovery: buried beneath the meal lay a pair of pliers and a shear,” the agency said.
The tools were allegedly intended to help the three suspects escape from police custody.
The lady was subsequently arrested as investigations continued into the alleged attempt to aid the suspects in escaping custody.
DCI said the discovery had prevented the suspects from obtaining tools that could have facilitated their escape.
“The DCI reminds members of the public that aiding or attempting to aid an escape from lawful custody is a serious criminal offence,” it said.
It added that anyone found involved in such acts would face legal action.
How the Suspects Were Arrested
The three suspects were arrested by DCI officers in Ruai for allegedly contacting young women on TikTok and arranging physical meetings with them.

In a statement on September 9, the DCI said a forensic trail led detectives to three suspects believed to be behind the reported incidents, following actionable intelligence.
“What appeared to be an innocent TikTok connection allegedly became a sinister trap, as unsuspecting young women were lured into meetings before being gang-raped and robbed of their valuables,” said the DCI.
Preliminary investigations established that the suspects allegedly operated an anonymous TikTok page, which they used to contact young women and arrange physical meetings.
The women were allegedly taken to secluded or abandoned areas, where the encounters reportedly turned into incidents of sexual violence and robbery.
In some cases, the victims were allegedly forced to transfer money through M-Pesa to accounts controlled by the suspects, while others were robbed of their mobile phones and other valuables.
Following the trail, detectives arrested the suspects in the Benedicta area of Ruai. They were identified as Emanuel Bosire Arisa, Ismail Ouru Arisa and Brian Gatheru Nderitu.
Detectives recovered six mobile phones from the suspects, along with two hooded jackets allegedly used to conceal their identities.
The statement said the three suspects were subsequently positively identified by five victims in separate incidents reported in Buruburu, Embakasi and Ruai.
Detectives said they were continuing with investigations to establish whether there were other victims or individuals linked to the alleged gang.
