China has unveiled a set of new advanced weapons during a ceremony attended by 26 world leaders, including Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, at the invitation of President Xi Jinping.
The event, held on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, marked the 80th anniversary of China’s victory in World War II and was also the first time the three leaders had appeared together in public.
The anniversary was celebrated with a grand military parade that showcased China’s growing military capabilities.
For the first time, Beijing displayed its complete nuclear triad that is land, sea, and air-based strategic forces.

Among the weapons unveiled were the JingLei-1, an air-launched long-range missile, the JuLang-3 submarine-launched intercontinental ballistic missile, and two new land-based systems, the DongFeng-31 and the DongFeng-61.
The DF-61, a road-mobile solid-fuel missile, has the ability to be hidden and launched from multiple locations, making its trajectory difficult to predict.
Also featured was the DF-5C, an upgraded silo-based missile with a longer range and capacity to carry multiple warheads, as well as the DF-26D, an intermediate-range missile known as the “Guam Killer” for its ability to target American bases and carrier strike groups in the Pacific while avoiding missile defense systems.

China also displayed advanced unmanned systems, including the AJX002, a large nuclear-capable underwater drone for spying and naval missions, the FH-97 stealth drone that can fly with fighter jets while gathering intelligence and blocking signals, and robotic dog units built for ground operations.
US President Donald Trump, in a statement via his Truth Social platform, reminded China that the United States played a major role in supporting it during World War II, particularly in its fight against Japanese invasion.

He stressed that many Americans sacrificed their lives to help China secure freedom and argued that their bravery should be honored during China’s victory celebrations.
At the same time, Trump took a sarcastic swipe at Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, suggesting that their show of unity looked like a conspiracy against the United States.
“The big question to be answered is whether or not President Xi of China will mention the massive amount of support and “blood” that The United States of America gave to China in order to help it to secure its freedom from a very unfriendly foreign invader. Many Americans died in China’s quest for Victory and Glory,” Trump said.
