President Donald Trump has called for the cancellation of court proceedings against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, describing the ongoing trial as a “witch hunt” and urging Israel to pardon its embattled leader.
In a statement on June 25, Trump defended Netanyahu as a “warrior” and “great hero,” citing their past cooperation on Iran and Israel’s national security.
Trump said he was shocked that the trial was continuing, particularly after what he described as “one of Israel’s Greatest Moments in History.”
“Bibi Netanyahu’s trial should be cancelled, immediately, or a Pardon given,” Trump wrote. “This travesty of justice cannot be allowed!”

The Israel prime minister has denied all wrongdoing and has repeatedly claimed the charges are politically motivated.
Trump’s remarks come just days before Netanyahu is due back in court on Monday.
The trial, a first for a sitting Israeli prime minister, has been a divisive issue in Israeli politics, drawing criticism from both Netanyahu’s supporters and opponents.
In his statement, Trump made references to specific elements of the case, including allegations involving cigars and luxury gifts.
Trump on Netanyahu Trial
He characterized the prosecution as a horror show and praised Netanyahu’s leadership during a period of heightened tensions with Iran.
“Bibi and I just went through hell together, fighting a very tough and brilliant longtime enemy of Israel, Iran,” Trump said. “There is nobody in Israel’s history that fought harder or more competently than Bibi Netanyahu.”
Trump has frequently used the term “witch hunt” to describe investigations into himself and his allies, including his own legal battles in the United States.

The President credited Netanyahu with achieving an “elimination of potentially one of the biggest and most powerful Nuclear Weapons anywhere in the World,” a feat he claimed, “nobody thought was possible.”
“We were fighting, literally, for the Survival of Israel, and there is nobody in Israel’s History that fought harder or more competently than Bibi Netanyahu,” he wrote.
Showing his close relationship with the Prime Minister, Trump wrote, “Perhaps there is no one that I know who could have worked in better harmony with the President of the United States, ME, than Bibi Netanyahu.”
He also asserted a strong commitment to intervene, declaring, “It was the United States of America that saved Israel, and now it is going to be the United States of America that saves Bibi Netanyahu. This travesty of ‘justice’ cannot be allowed!”
